Wednesday, September 29 The Gracious Few The Gracious Few are not worried about chart topping singles or selling millions of records with watered down rock. "We knew what type of album would get us excited," founding guitarist Chad Taylor tells us. "We were pissed off and sick and tired of the status quo. We wanted a return to music that wasn't careful to please the masses. We had that with our previous bands." Previous bands indeed. And not some amateur garage bands. The group is a mix of members of 90's alternative giants Live and Candlebox (Taylor, bass player Patrick Dahlheimer, and drummer Chad Gracey from Live make up the original three members; they placed a call to Candlebox singer Kevin Martin, who then recruited former bandmate Sean Hennesy for lead guitar to complete the lineup). "I was just happy to get the call, thankfully, I picked up!" beams Hennesy. "I've been working hard, earning my musical chops but I was always the sideman. With The Gracious Few, they wanted my participation on all levels." And that statement nicely summarizes The Gracious Few: a group of talented, professional musicians stirring their collective pot to come up with a sound that is both fresh and energetic and familiar at the same time.
